nesting and babies

Question
my rabbit was bred 30 days ago we took male away when she began nesting. she started nesting on the 2oth day and pulling out her hair. its now been 10days an shes started kicking sawdust and yet there has been no babies born i also found a white jelly substance were she goes to the loo what does all this mean is she gona gith birth or not because shes got a lump (big tummy as if she is pregnant) but she kicks sawdust up in to her nest what is it?why she do it? please reply

Hi Cathy,

from your description of her behavior, it sounds like she could be giving birth very shortly.  The white jelly substance may be like their equivalent of a mucus plug for humans.  Her behavior kicking things around could signify birth is close, but it does not sound like unusual behavior to me.

And 30 days gestation is an AVERAGE figure, like nine months for people, there can be a day or so variation.  If she goes on any further than a day or two if your vet makes housecalls it would probably be the least stressful on her.  If not I'd consider taking her in or have an experienced person who breeds rabbits that you know take a look at her.
