Question
My bunny has scabs all over his ears, neck, and front feet. There is no hair where the scabs are. we thought they could be ear mites and we are treating him for that but i dont know what to do with the other areas. we cannot afford a vet please help. What is the problem and how can we fix it?

Answer
Dear Audrey,

The only way to safely and effectively treat mites and fleas on a rabbit is with Revolution (selamectin) or Advantage (imidacloprid).  The former is better, as it kills both types of parasites; Advantage works only against fleas.

Please read:

and find a good vet here:

www.rabbit.org/vets

There is no effective treatment you can do at home.  Rather than wasting any more money on useless over-the-counter or folk remedies, I hope you'll get bun to a good vet and spend that money (you may be able to work out a payment plan, and it might not be as expensive as you think) to get your bunny some relief.  The condition is painful and itchy, and your bunny needs your help to get better.

I hope this helps.  Please do the right thing.

Dana
