Question
I have a baby floppy eared bunny that is about 5 weeks old.  She is an indoor/outdoor bunny.  I found 3 little ticks around her eyes last night when I brought her inside.  I have called a few vets but they have said that there is nothing I can do other than remove the ticks.  Is there anything I can give her to prevent the ticks?  I don't want to restrict her freedom by keeping her inside.  We also have 2 cats but they are taking flea/tick medicine regularly.  Can you also tell me about the tick eggs?  I don't want them in my house.  Thank you!
Jen

Answer
Dear Jen,

The safest tick remedy is Revolution (selamectin), available from a rabbit-experienced vet:

DO NOT use Frontline (fipronil), as it can be deadly to rabbits.

If you killed the ticks, they are not going to lay eggs in your house, and it is not very likely that any would come in from the outside to lay their eggs.  A dry, indoor environment is usually not conducive to tick egg hatching.

I hope this will help.
