Question
I have almost 3 month old bunny. She has yet to be spayed we have been going back and forth on that (she is our only bunny)She is constantly surrounded by people but she bites and digs on you while holding her?? I have had a house rabbit before and never had any of these issues by the way she is a lionhead, any help with her would be great she digs on you more than biting she's bitten me only, twice is it a woman thing? i am diabetic and prick my fingers but I never doing that close to the time while trying to socialize her.

Answer
Hi Jessica

Most rabbits are diggers and they will bite when they want to be put down.  Since they can't vocalize they get your attention by biting.  It usually hurts too!  I would strongly recommend that you get her spayed as soon as her vet says she is old enough.  She is already displaying territorial behavior and by getting the surgery as soon as she is old enough it should calm her down a bit.  I really don't think it has anything to do with you being a woman but you never can tell.  I have a neutered buck who bites me every time I feed him but he never bites anyone else.

Try giving her a box with shredded paper and even an old phone book.  Let her dig to her hearts content.   If she starts to dig while you are holding her she probably doesn't want to be held.  Bunnies look so cuddly but most of them actually hate to be held.  You may have to let her come to you on her terms.  This may change after her surgery but even spayed does don't like to be held.  There are rabbits out there at will tolerate being held and others that will just not allow it.

This site is all about lionheads.  Personality wise they are no different than any other rabbit.  With time and patience you should be able to develop a bond with her.
