Question
Hi Randy,
thank you very much about your answer about my son's bunny Louis.
We have stopped the shots and started pills oribax. He has finished his pills, but his head is still tilted. He is keeping his balance fairly well, he can lift his head up to look up but than he puts his head back to the side. I don't know if we should take him back to the vet for more meds. or if the tilt is just there without an infection. Louis eats just fine and has gained a good amount of weight. He does drink a lot of water. He is curious when we get around and he is pretty active. AS I mentioned before, his balance is good. When he sleeps he does sleep with his head on the side. I look frequently in his ears to make sure he doesn't have anything in it and it doesn't seem to bother him when i touch it. His eye looks a little dry and not all the way open.
My main concern is the medications, should i get him some more or just wait? I hope the tilt is not permanent and hope his his will straighten out.
Right now i just don't know what else to do.
Thank you so much for your help.

Answer
Hi Nicole,

I am not familiar with Oribax nor did a search turn up any drug with that name.  Could you check on that and let me know exactly what the drug is?  Ear infections do take a long time to treat...and in my non-professional opinion based on numerous rabbits I have treated...keep the antibiotics going (assuming this drug is safe/useful).  If you get correction, it might take a while also.  And the combinationof the tilt and the antibiotics...it does tend to dry the eyes out.  Keep them lubricated with basic tears like you use for humans...just the basic stuff.  I prefer to use the gel since it will hang in the eye longer.  The down side eye will tend to be drier but lubricate both of them.  Let me know about that drug.
