Question
At around 8am this morning I noticed one of my female bunnies frantically nesting. She is in a cage with 2 other females, of whom kept out of her way. She became very restless almost manic and started bleeding. I removed her to an indoor cage which was smaller so she could rest and calm down. On ringing my vet he suggested that I do what I had already done & to keep an eye on her as bleeding can be a sign of aborting them. At around 9pm tonight she gave birth to a rather large baby who was sadly not breathing. I would say he was 2 thumbs in length and looked like his leg had been severely damaged. I have been keeping a close eye on her, she is eating/drinking and toiling ok, but was wondering if she would have any more. My understanding of rabbits is they usually have all with in half an hour after the first is born. Is the size normal. It is her first litter and she is 19 and a half months. Her droppings are also strong smelling

Answer
hi Julie its very unlikely she will have any more.
as long as she is eating and drinking OK i would not be to worried, just keep a good eye on her.
one thing a pregnant doe must always be on her own because if the baby had lived the other two does would have probably killed it as they think its intruding in their space .
