Rabbit with a sore paw that she will not put down

Question
Hi Lee,

I hope you can help, one of our Rabbits (Wispa) is holding her front paw off the ground and it sort of, flicks out and she keeps licking it. When we tried to pick her out of the hutch she was quite happy to run away until caught and we had a look at it and there seems to be no marks or cuts. This has only just started happening this morning, is this something that you recognise? We have an enclosed garden and they are regularly allowed full run of it (as long as its dry) and she did not show any signs of injury last time out. Thank you for your help

Answer
Hi,

if she is running on it it is not injured.  It sounds like she is just balancing herself to begin grooming.  They often flick their front legs and paws several times while adjusting their position to balance on their hind legs and rump, in order to groom their face and ears.
