best rabbit breeds

I am interested in getting a rabbit. I have never owned one and I want to know the best types of breeds (personality wise). I have 2 cats and am a little concerned. I need a calm breed that's relatively easy.

My favorite breed all around is the mini rex.  They are compact at about 5lbs or less, have a dense, soft fur and an even temperment.  Stay away from any dwarf breeds (Netherland) they are high strung and can get very mean.  Mini Lops and Holland Lops are also good choices as is the dutch rabbit.  Avoid buying any rabbit from a pet store.  There are bound to be breeders in your area with healthy animals for you to choose from.  Check with the local 4-H extension office and ask about any 4-H members or advisors who raise rabbits.  They can tell you about their bunnys and the temperment of the bloodlines in their rabbitry.
