Question
Dana my family family and i are going to get maybe one Netherland Dwarf Rabbit and i was wandering if Netheland Dwarfs can withstand cold, when it is winter time?

Answer
Dear Georgia,

No type of rabbit can withstand winter cold in a very cold area.  Ideal temperature for a rabbit ranges from about 55 - 75 Farenheit.  This is why the House Rabbit Society recommends that all rabbits live indoors where they are safe from both environmental extremes (I worry more about heat than cold) and predators.  Outdoor living in a hutch is simply not safe for a rabbit, nor is it any kind of pleasant life.

You can find out all you need to know about spay/neuter, litterbox training and other important aspects of living with a house rabbit here:

and the best site for finding out everything you need to know about rabbit care in general, before you make the decision to make this 10-15 year commitment, can be found here:

I hope this helps!  Good luck with your new pal!  :)
