Answer
Hi Darcy,

I am sorry to hear about your rabbit dying.  The only consolation is that he went relatively quickly.

If I can tell everyone who has a rabbit something, it is this:

Anytime they are off their food (anything other than their normal excited self when the food comes), and/or is having output issues, it is a serious problem and you must regard it as such.

THe only way to really know what may have killed him is for a vet to do a necropsy.  I can't really tell you what it is.  Diarrhea dehydrates rabbits quickly and causes the gut to dry out, which is a deadly problem in itself.  He may have had some kind of infection, but it's all speculation.

Again, sorry for your rabbit's loss.  He knows you did yor best for him and knew you loved him and were trying to take care of him.  Just being there with him so he wasn't alone I am sure was comforting to him.
