Sick Pot Belly Mom

Question
Hi,  We have a potbelly pig that had 11 babies over 6 weeks ago.  She has been fine with the babies and we were separating them periodically to wean them. Two days ago we separated them completely and now she is laying down on her side and is lethargic. Could stopping the nursing make her sick?   She eats some if you put food in front of her, but she used to eat like crazy.  I am worried about her.  Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Answer
If momma pig was still feeding the babies, suddenly stopping will make her feel ill and uncomfortable. Taking all of them at once also probably put her into a depression.

At 6 weeks, the babies are ready to eat starter pellets. My suggestion is to put the babies back with her, but separate them at meal time and feed them pellets.

Momma pigs usually wean their babies by 8 weeks, so in a very short while they will be weaned even if they stay with her.
