QuestionMy pot belly pigs keep tipping there water containers over so its hard to keep water in front of them and its getting to be hot weather, I am concerned about them! PLEASE HELP !!!
AnswerSome pigs love to play in water. When the weather is hot, they will tip their water dishes and try to make mud to cool off in.
The two easiest ways to secure a water dish are to attach it to a wall or put large, heavy bricks or blocks in the bottom. Heavy weights in the bottom take up room inside the bowl, so less water will fit in. Also, some pigs are hard workers and will still splash water out even if they can't tip the container completely.
Water bowls that fasten to a wall are available from feed stores, farm supply stores like Tractor Supply, and on line from places like Valley Vet Supply and Jefferslivestock.com and Farmtek

If piggy has water to play in, they'll be less inclined to dump the drinking water dish. Hard sided plastic toddler wading pools work well. Some pigs enjoy lawn sprinklers. Or, just pick a spot and let a hose run until it's wet, the piggys will make their own mud hole. This play spot will also help keep them cool in the hot weather.
