Young Min Pig Diarrhea

21 18:03:09

Question
I have a min pig that I got two days ago, he is just over two weeks old, and is having really bad issues with Diarrhea. I have read some of your other answers about older pigs and e.coli, but I've also read that soft yellowy stool can just be natural. My biggest concern is that he is having no problems using the litter box when he's peeing, but he just seems to have no control over defecation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
I am not a veterinarian and can not make a medical diagnosis over the internet.

If piggy has diarrhea, he probably does not have any control over his bowel movements. That's why he's having the accidents.

Mild, temporary diarrhea may be caused by stress, and will go away in a day or two.

If it lasts longer than a couple of days, chances are the problem is more serious. Chronic or severe diarrhea can cause dehydration or even death. A common cause of severe diarrhea in piglets is e. coli, an infection like this requires antibiotics from a veterinarian.
