Question
Hi Sandra, your advice has been helpful in the past when dealing with my little Templeton, so I'm hoping I might be able to get a little more inforamation from you.
All of a sudden last night my rat began to walk as tho in pain. Literally out of no where. Sleeping in an uncommon corner of her cage. So I brought her right into the ER. They said to just monitor her. So this morning she's no better and squeeking when touched.
This time I went to a exotic animal specialist. Of course she doesn't make a noise while there or through her exam.
He has wrote her off to maybe have tweeked a nerve.
I am just very unsettled to hear her squeek at every movement. She only ever makes noise when someone sat on her tail or it's got caught in the cage door.
Sooo my question is... what should I do ? Have you ever heard of somthing like this ??
She does make a jump from my bed to the nightstand to the floor but it's never bothered her before. Could she have an upset stomach ? or could somthing be happening to her tail ?
:(

Answer
Hi Chelsea

Did the vet do xrays?  Did he palpate her abdomen for distention and feel her body for any masses and check her limbs to be sure everything was in perfect alignment? When the vet said she may have tweaked a nerve but WHAT nerve?

Also, is she carrying her tail up or is it low and kind of dragging?
