Question
At what age, can the pups be taken from their mom? I'm noticing a new "trend", rehoming animals at 4 or 5 weeks of age, I believe this is way to early to do this!

Answer
The mother begins to wean them at two weeks, but they are not fully weaned until 4-5 weeks.  At this point they *can* go to new homes as they don't need their mother anymore, but I as a breeder don't believe they should until 6 weeks of age, however I usually do separate the males and females between 5 and 6 weeks just in case.  2-6 weeks is the optimum time for socialization, so I keep them until 6 to make sure they are as socialized as possible before going to new homes, also to make sure no personality problems or genetic defects crop up.  I hope that answers your question!
