Question
Thanks
After asking you my question.  I went to check on my hedgehog and had him on my lap I noticed some blood coming from his mouth.  I opened his mouth and saw a small cut I think he got it from a sunflower seed he likes to eat.  Should I take him to the vet???  And if not how long can they go in there hibernation???

-----Question-----
My hedgehog is cold and not eating or drinking I have had him for 3 years now.  He has never done this.  He would not eat for a few days but not just lay and he is cold (not dead) he is still breathing.  I have put an extra heater by his cage and tryed to warm him with a heating pad and he just moves off the heating pad. I'm not sure what to do Help
-----Answer-----
He is probably cold and trying to hibernate. The heating pad is probably too hot and burning him so he moves away. Heating a towel in the dryer for about 10 minutes and then letting him sleep on that helps. Heating pads are really hard to gauge how hold the cage gets, so even just putting the pad on the lowest setting and then a towel over that is better than putting it in the cage. Do not put a towel in the cage.

Answer
Don't let him hibernate. It is bad for his heart. I would take him to a vet that is familar with hedgehogs just to get it checked out. I also would not feed sunflower seeds to your hedgehog. They are too high in fat. He would enjoy a mealworm or silkworm treat more. You can find cans in the reptile section. Feed those sparingly. Hedgehogs are insectavores by nature, so an insect treat fits with his natural diet.
