Chinchillas + Cats

Question
Hello, I have two cats that are almost 4 years old. They hunt and bring various small rodents onto my porch during the summer. I really want a chinchilla to breed and i would like to know if i could have my chinchilla rum around like a cat would around the house(potty trained of course)? Do you think this would be okay with the cats and should i trust them home alone with each other? Thanks

Answer
This is something that you would have to consider on your part. You need to look at the personality of your cats. Active hunters may not work out because they will chase your Chin or even sit on it's cage causing stress. You need to consider if you need to have them just separated where your cats run one part of the house and the Chin the other, or just a room.

Take into account this things:

Is your car layed back?

Is your cat gentle?

Do you have enough space?

Do your cat hunt or chase anything that moves?

Here is a great website that I found that may give your more help in making this decision:
