wild rats in the garage as pets?

21 15:45:57

Question
I apologize in advance if this is foolish, but i am curious if it might be
possible to catch the rats in my garage and keep them as pets.   I have a
humane trap i am yet to deploy, but the hope is to catch these little guys and
keep them and care for them ... rather than seeting them free where they will
most likely torment someone else who is not so loving.

I had pet rats growing up, and i absolutely adore them.   I am hoping that i
can capture them, get them the appropriate vaccinations, and eventually
domesticate them.   Is this unheard of?   Will i be laughed out of the vet?

thanks,

Answer
Hello Reid,
no you will not be laughed at. In fact many people do it. As long as you take them to the vet to make sure that they don't have any diseases that's perfectly fine actually. :) They may not need vaccinations but they will probably take samples of feces or something to make sure they don't have parasites or worms. I think that you will have success with them. :)
