Question
On November 8,2006 time unknown I've  my rat had 8 new born's,and on that day I've been calling my friends to see if they might want one when the time comes, but I don't know when there eyes open and when they can leave there mom.  Can you help me?

Answer
I have got rats before at 4 weeks old, they were very very nervous and very unhealthy their whole life. I think 4 weeks is too young to get rehomed but if at 4 weeks you remove the males into a seperate cage so that they dont get the females pregnant. I have also gotten rats at 6 weeks old and they were so much more outgoing and happy so I would wait until they are at least 6 weeks old. Remember never to rehome them singally, they should go in at least pairs and if mummy rat lives on her own, a few of her female babies should be kept for company. A single rat is a lonely and unhappy rat. Good luck
