Taking Care of baby mouse

Question
Hi
My name is Lauren and my parents found a small baby mouse yesterday he was cornered by my cat and dog. (We might have a small nest somewhere in my house because my cat has found and killed two other baby mice already.)

He has fur and his are open and he is the size of quarter. Hes in a cage with water and woodships and one corner i put paper towels for the mouse. I have been feeding him cookies and rabbit food i know that's not the correct food for the poor baby but my parents wont buy him any proper food. What can i do about the food and also do i need to give him anything else?

Hes very small and very week every time i pet the mouse i can feel his little bones in his body. Hes not very active but he does eat the food that i give him and he also drinks the water that i give him also.

Please help i don't want to see my mouse die.

I have also gotten attached to the little mouse that i have named him mousey. :) (childish i know but i cant help it when it comes to animals)

But also would i have to send him back to wild when he recovers?

Answer
It is not a good idea to keep him, or to contact him as you don't know what parasites or diseases he may have.  When rodents are found, common pests aren't the only concerns you should be thinking about.  There are parasites, viruses and such that aren't an issue with common pets like dogs and cats.  If at some point you want a mouse as a pet, go to a pet store and buy a mouse (a feeder mouse is cheap and clean) that can be either fancy or plain...but get a domestic mouse.  That way you aren't faced with the disease issue.  I've had several mice as pets, but will not recommend you keep this one.  Let it go now, and fend for itself in the wild.  If you demonstrate responsibility in this, your parents are much more likely to appreciate the care and wisdom put into a request for a domestic mouse at some point.
Good luck!
