Question
Today i noticed red stuff sort of like blood coming from Maisys nose and it was on my hand and in her bedding. Please help Tamarah

Answer
Hi Sara,

Mice produce something called porphyrin, a reddish brown fluid, which can collect in times of stress or illness around the eyes and nose.  It is usually visible as little crusties, and there shouldn't be much of it at all.

The fluid you are describing could be either porphyrin, or it could indeed blood.  Either way, there should NOT be enough of it to get on bedding and your hands, in anything more than a tiny spot from rubbing loose a crusty.  This tells me that either she is overproducing her porphyrin, or she could be injured or very sick (or all of the above).  Unfortunately, all three of those require a visit to a veterinarian who works with mice.  You need a professional to look at her ears, eyes, nose, mouth, and give her an examination to figure out what is causing the red fluid and stop it as soon as possible.  Any guessing we do at home could lead to her getting worse while we try to figure it out.

I know a vet isn't always possible, but it is her very best bet at feeling better fast.  Unfortunately, I'm limited in how much I can help when I can't see her or really examine her.  If there is NO way at all to get her seen by a veterinary professional, please write me back with whatever photos you can get and I will see if there is anything else I can do from here.  I can't stress enough, though, that a vet is her best option in this situation.

Best of luck, and let me know how she is doing,
-Tam
