hair loss on a baby guinea pig

Question
i have baby guinea pigs, about a week old now, & a couple of them, one especially, are losing their hair. so far, it's only on the long haired ones, not the short haired ones. the skin does not look red or flaky, but i did find one small brown scab on her head. they are so young, & i can't really take them away from their mother or seperate them. i was wondering what if anything is safe to use on them ?

Answer
Hi Beth.  IVOMEC.  It is expensive, you want the spray on kind which is even harder to find (We usually mix it up and sell to other breeders - easier to mix your own than find it).  But ask around feed stores in your area.  I have been told that Revolution works on guinea pigs.  Call and ask a vet exact dosage, but I believe a few drops per guinea pig is more than enough.  I fear your guinea pigs have mites of some kind, and the babies have caught it from the parents.  Whatever you use, treat everyone or you'll be wasting your time.  I would try take care of this soon, it is hard on the little guys.
