Taming piggies!!!

Hi, I have 4 guinea pigs in total, Cookie, Spike, Ginger and Patch, all females. The 2 which I've had since March Spike and Cookie are beginning to get really tame. My friend gave me her 2 a few days ago because her cats wouldn't leave them alone. The problem is these piggies are so nervous. They are terrified of being handled and picked up and Ginger just stays in her igloo all the time when we're in the room and won't take food from you. They seem to be afraid of everything as i think they were locked away in a room because of the cats. Thay are about 6 months old. Is it too late to get them as tame as our other two?
Also i tried introducing the two pairs to each other and they nearly killed each other!!! Is it best to always keep them separate?

Hello, it's not too late to tame them it's just going to take a longer time to tame them. Patience, speaking softly to them and eventually handling them is good. It's going to take a while though. Also it's best to keep them seperated since they got into a fight.
