Question
Hi,
While I was recently clipping my guinea pigs toe nail, I accidentally cut it a
little bit too short. It didn't bleed much, but after about a week, I noticed
that the toe we clipped short was much fatter than the others.  I am almost
positive that it is puss in the toe, and I was wondering if you had any
suggestions on how to remove it.
Thank You
Chris

Answer
Hello Christopher,

It does sound like it is infected. He should see a vet to have it lanced and get antibiotics. Injuries and infections on their feet can lead to very serious infections and even death. He is at risk for illnesses like Staphylococcus aureus, so it is best to see the vet to prevent it. Good luck.
