Sick Guinea pig!!!

Hello, I have a guinea pig that is about 3 years old. Last week her daughter died out of the blue, for no known reason. I went a couple of days, but Blip (the mom) started getting very depressed so I got her a friend. They really seem to like each other! Unfortunatley, tonight I noticed she was her normal self, she was fine last night. Tonight she is quiet and listless and when i press on her stomach from underneath she makes a squeak that sounds like she is in pain (I have never heard it before). I am very worried about her, and have no idea what to do. Thanks!

Hi Krista.  I'm afraid it sounds like this is one for the vet to see.  Guinea pigs are terrible for coming down with illness rapidly, and an occasion when a guinea pig's health does deteriorate in such a way it does require urgent veterinary attention.  No home remedy can match the strong meds a vet can prescribe which your piggy, Blip, just may need.  She doesn't sound too happy with that tummy, so please do get your vet to check her out.
