When can a male guinea pig join his family

My female guinea pig gave birth to 2 babies a few days ago. I separated the father right away to avoid any problems. My male has now been fixed. When can I return him to his family? I worry about him hurting the babies (4 days old), not the mating issue.

Hi Dotty

You need to leave it about a month after the surgery before putting him with females.

To answer your question, it has been known for males to trample babies whilst trying to "play" with the mother. This shouldnt be an issue now but personally I would wait until the babies are 2 weeks old or so.
