Question
My male guinea pig named Oliver is about 2 months old. I bathed him today and when I was combing him it looked like little scabs and bits of hair were coming up into the comb. I felt around and there are definately little scabs. What are these caused by and how can I get rid of them. He is a black abyssinian and his little brother who is also an abyssinian has a little scab on his bottom.

Please help. Thanks

Lindsay Lauren

Hiya

One of the best treatments for this is Neem oil at a dilution rate of four parts of carrier oil to one part of Neem oil.
Rub the oil into the area and leave it on for 2 days before shampooing your piggy.
Leave a break of 4 days and repeat the whole thing.
This will not harm your piggy and you should see a big difference.
You should really bathe them in SELSUN shampoo as this is also harmless to piggies.
All these items can be bought in town thus saving you forking out for a vet!
