Thank you for your answer. I also wanted to know how soon after the babies are born that we can start holding them and playing with them.

Answer
They will leave the nest when they are about 14 days old, that's when they open their eyes, too. You can handle them at that time, when it's clear that they leave the nest because they want to and not because they have strayed out by accident.
