Mangy Fur

Question
I have two dwarf hamsters. We have had them about a month. One is very fluffy and sits for a few seconds when you hold it. The other one is very hyper and will not sit still for a second. Her white fur always looks mangy. It started out looking a little separated near her face area and not it looks this way over half of her. It looks like someone with greasy hair. Should I try to clean her or is something with her?

thanks!

Answer
Hi Margaret,

Sometimes this will happen with hamsters. I would suggest giving her a bath with luke warm water. It is best to use just a little bit of baby shampoo and it is very important to dry her completely so she does not catch a chill. I have found it best to use a dry washcloth and gently rub them.
