bleeding hamster feet

Question
My chinese dwarf hamster is bleeding from her feet, im not sure if its between the toes or around the joints. she is walking fine and they do not seem to cause her pain. Do you know why they may be bleeding?

Answer
The most likely cause of bloody feet is a sharp object in the cage (inspect thoroughly: the smallest point can cut), or an attack by another hamster. Sometimes even hamsters show a separation anxiety  when a hamster buddy leaves or dies, and as a result, will chew off a limb (including one of my own).
