gerbils and mazes

Question
What is the best way to get a gerbil to remeber it's way??
I need it for a science fair project that im working with a dwarf hamster. Are those a good test subject??
Or what gerbil does the maze the best??

Hi,
They will not learn the way round the maze unless you train them for months, which I presume cannot happen...? They will eventually find their way around the maze, but will take some time as they cannot remember where they have already been, and may just go round in circles.
There is no way of knowing: he may be very fast, he may be very slow. It is unreliable, so I don't recommend using that idea.
