Can I take a dwarf hamster across the sea?

Question
My hamster is about 6 months to 8 months. We live in Georgia and are relocating to England over the summer. Obviously we have to fly over there. We'll be flying with British airways and I was wondering if I could bring my hamster with me. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Alex,

You have to check with the airline you are taking to see if they will allow you to take your hamster. Some airlines may require you to put the hamster in the cargo hold (I don't suggest this) and others will allow them in the passengar cabin. The cage counts as carry-on luggage and must meet with carry-on size limitations. There may be fees. Hamsters must be at least 8 weeks old and must have a veterinary statement of good health within 30 days of travel.

Thank you for your question and best of luck!
