Question
QUESTION: when do baby hamsters open their eyes???

ANSWER: Hi Genessis,

Baby hamsters' eyes will open when they are 14-16 days old.  At this time, you can begin handling them for short periods of time.  (Make sure that you don't touch the babies at all until they are at least 14 days old - if you touch them, the mother will stop feeding them.)

QUESTION: when can i change the bedding of a female hamster cage after she has given birth?

Answer
Hi Genessis,

You'll have to wait until the babies are 14 days old before you can clean the cage.  Once they are 14 days old, you can clean the cage and fill it with plenty of bedding.  (Use Aspen or Carefresh bedding only; do not use Pine or Cedar, which are dangerous for hamsters.)  Also, scatter hamster food around the cage, so that the babies can begin experimenting with it.

Have a great day!
