Squaking

Question
I have a blackberry dwarf hamster, and we have had her for about a year and a half I think. But anyway, every now and then when we get her out, and sometimes while she is in her cage, she will make these constant squeaking noises that sound like she swallowed a bar of soap. We call her berrie, and I've been after my mom to get her a small wheel, since she doesn't have one. She has food and water, she sleeps a lot, and we have a small cage that I think works fine for her.If you have any answers that may help me, please tell.

Answer
Dear Jennifer,
thank you for your question.
It's very unusual for dwarf hamsters to make any noise. This might be a sign of a respiratory problem, so you should see a vet with her to rule that out. Hamsters get hiccups sometimes, which might be another explanation. It's hard to say wuithout having heard the noise, but if the vet gives her a clean bill of health, I wouldn't worry about this.
I hope I was of some help to you
Jennifer
