Dwarf hamsters as pets

Question
I recently purchased two dwarf hamsters.  We already had two teddy bear male hamsters that we adore.  I did alot of research before buying them.  For the three days we had them before returning them to the pet store I was bitten so many times I could not understand how they could even be considered as a pet.  They literally tried attack my hand if I put it in the cage just to grab the food dish.  I tried gloves and holding them several times a day with no improvement.  My question is did I just get a couple of animals that had never been held or maybe were too old?  Is it possible for a dwarf hamster to be held or are they sopposed to be just looked at?  Have you ever had a tame one?

Answer
Hello. Well my hamster is pretty tame. Choobles hates it when I go into his cage though. He will nip at me everytime just because he wants his space. I can hold him and it took patience but I figured out that the only time he wanted me to hold him was when i would open the cage latch and he would climb onto the latch and climb into my hand. Those hamsters just may have not wanted to be bothered with. You can hold dwarf hamsters, you just gotta find one that is calm. :-)
