Questionhi- i really hope you can help me!!
ok, about 6 months ago I got my hamster but, i only got him a couple of days before I had to go on a trip to Germany for 4 months. Therefore, I did not see him for 4 months and that was before i had even tamed him. When i got him, he was 2 monbths so, he is now about 6 months. I left him with a friend and she promised that she would look after him well but she never took him out his cage. She had hamsters before so I thougt she would know what to do. Anyway, Hamii (thats my hamsters name) never comes to anyone in my familys hand and he gets scared easily. He is know 6 months and I want to know if it is to late to begin to tame him. If so, what should i do and if not,how should i tame him?
HOpe you can help
Jess x x x =)
Answerhmmmm since your hammie was never let out of the cage it can be a little difficult to tame him to come to you but it's not impossible. The best way to get a hamster to come to you is to bribe them with thei favorite foods like sunflowe seeds. My hamster choobles didn't become tame until he was six months and I figured out that opening the door of the cage and having sunflower seeds in my was a great way to enhance his curiousity. Sometimes he would back away so I would then handfeed him sunflower seeds through the cage wires. Now everytime I come to the cage he comes to the bars and sticks his mouth out hoping to get a sunflower seed. :-)
