My hamster had babies about 2 1/2 weeks ago and the babies are doing great they eat hamster food there eyes are open and they are running around the cage but my poor daddy hamster is soo lonely and im planning on keeping at least one of the babies so I want to know how long till I can put him back with the mom without her getting paranoid and him eating the babies?

   What type of hamsters do you have? Are they a type of Syrian or a type of Dwarf hamster?

Hi Tori,

   It will be safe to return the Dad to the cage when the babies are 3 weeks old. This is when the babies are to be separated from their Mother and each other (boys in one cage, girls in another).

    If Mom does not want him in the cage, then by all means keep him out.
