hamster died of unknow causes

Hi there...recently I got a normal sized hamster. Just yesterday, her eyes were shut with some blood-like stuff on them. She was moving. I checked it out on the internet and found out that i should wipe her eyes with warm water on a cotton bud, which i did. They opened for a while..This evening when I went to check on her, she did not move and passed away. The question is why were there splatters of blood across her cage. Her nose and eyes were bloody as if they had burst. Pls tell me why. Thanx

Did you see her bottom by any chance? Or did she smell quite a bit. Hamsters are prone to wet tail, which is caused by stress particularly when you first buy them. Unless it is noticed early it always kills them, but it can be easy to miss. In the later stages it also causes their eyes to close and look as though they are bleeding.

I hope this might give you an idea of what happened!!
