HELLO MY KIDS BABY SITTER GIVE THEM TWO HAMSTERS WE DIDN'T KNOW THE SEX THEY CAME TO MY HOUSE ON FEBRUARY 1ST ON THE 15TH OF FEBRUARY THE FEMALE GIVE BIRTH AFTER I CHECK THE NEXT DAY SHE HAD EAT ALL HER BABYS THEN RECENTLY ON MARCH 20TH SHE GIVE BIRTH AGAIN WE TOOK THE MALE OUT..WHEN I CHECK ON THE 24TH THERE WERE NO BABYS.. SHE ATE THE BABYS AGAIN....WE PUT THE MALE BACK WITH HER ON THE 25TH BUT TODAY WE FOUND HER DEAD AND THE MALE HAD ATE HALF OF HER FACE IS THIS NORMAL... WHAT DO YOU THINK IT HAPPEN TO HER? AND HOW OFTEN THEY GIVE BIRTH WHY SHE ATE HER BABYS....THEY NEVER FIGHT WITH EACH OTHER THEY WILL ALWAYS SLEEP NEXT TO EACH OTHER THEY SEEM TO BE GOOD I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPEN MY KIDS ARE VERY SAD......AND KNOW THE MALE IS LONELEY I CAN HEAR HIM....SCUYCKILING AND LOOKING AROUND...HELP..PLEASE WHAT SHOULD I DO KNOW THANKS

Hi Daly,

    From what you have said, I am guessing that you have a type of dwarf hamster since these types can live together.
    When a female has babies to young, its her first litter and she does not feel she can take care of them or she feels that her babies are in danger, she will eat them. Females will also come right back into heat after giving birth, and if there is a male in the cage, she will more than likely become pregnant again (it is always best to remove the male before the female gives birth or if you didn't know she was pregnant, as soon as you found out).
    I would say that the strain of having 2 litters so close together, was too much for the female to handle. As for the male eating her after she died, this is in their nature.
    Dwarf hamsters do better in pairs. You could get another female, but if you don't want babies, then another male would be best.
