Hair loss

Question
Hi there,

I have a year old dwarf hamster and he is in VERY good condition. I have just recently noticed that he has two bald spots on both back feet and hip area. He doesn't itch a lot. I have also noticed a tail like growth, triangular in nature, protruding from his hind quarters. It is fully covered with fur. I don't know if he is maturing but I am 99% sure he is a male. Any advice or info on this subject is MUCH appreciated!!

Answer
Hi Sloan,

The hair loss is normal in older hamsters. It may grow back and it may not.
The growth could be a cyst, which will generally break open, scab over and go away. Never the less, this should be kept an eye on. If any redness or pus becomes present, then a vet should be consulted for these are signs of infection.
