Question
QUESTION: I have 2 short haired teddy bear hamsters.  They are young about 8 weeks.  The
pet store said I could put them together, Will this become a problem?  They get
along fine.  Also they gave me these big pellets to feed them and said I should
introduce regular food in a about a week.  Can I start giving them fruits/veg yet?
Let me know.  I appreciate it.
ANSWER: Hi Michelle,

Are they males, females or one of each? How long have you been feeding them the big pellets?

QUESTION: They are 2 females and I have only been feeding them the pellets since saturday.

Answer
Hello again Michelle,

Yes, it could become a problem, but they could also get along just fine.
Teddy Bear Hamsters are a type of Syrian Hamster, they are solitary (which means they like being alone) and very territorial. So they say it is best to put them in separate cages.
I had 2 females raised together from birth in the same cage and they got along just fine. I really believe that it depends on the hamsters.
You could try keeping them in the same cage and see how they do, but if they should start fighting, it would be best to separate them so neither one gets hurt.
