Hamster bleeding

Question
HI Shawntiah, I'm taking care of my neighbors teddy bear hamster for two weeks. She was sick when they brought her to me and they are aware. She is bleeding from her bottom I think. She is leaving a trail of pink as she walks around her cage. They told us not to incur expenses trying to treat her. they think she might die. I've been treating with "Dri-Tail" for 3 days but it seems to be getting worse. Could it be urinary instead?

Answer
Hello Cathy,
generally a urinary tract infection is when you see blood when she pees is trailing something behind her everytime she walks it sounds like she has a bad case of wettail and she isn't going to really make it without medical attention which would be expensive since you are watching her. The family is right that she is probably not going to make it. If you see anything prutruding out of her behind than she also has a prolapsed rectum and death generally isn't too far behind and the prolapsed rectum is really painful as well.
