My ferret seems lonely!

Hello my name is Kelsey and i just have a quick question! Well i have a 4 year old ferret named Rascal. She seems lonely so i was woundering if you thought it would be a good idea for me to get her a friend? I do play with her and she gets let out of her cage everday for atleat 3 hours. Thanks so much for you time!

Hi Kelsey,

At 4 years of age it may be pretty hard to get her a friend she'll get along with. Has she been alone for all of those 4 years? If so then she may not accept a new friend very easily. What you have to ask yourself is if you would be willing to always house 2 ferrets separately if they don't become friends. The longer ferrets live by themselves the less likely they are to accept a new ferret into their territory.

If you are giving her lots of love and plenty of outside the cage time, that should be enough.
