Question
I have had two of my ferrets for 4 and a half years. They are
both 7 now.  One of them has been on antibiotics for diarrhea.
Finally, with baytril helping him.
I rescued another male.  They are all neutered males.  The new
one is 2 and half years old.  My older two do not like him.  They really beat him up and I don't have the heart to watch it.  The young one goes limp whenever he sees them.  I don't let them out together anymore and it is really hard.
What can I do ???

Answer
Hi Suzan,

This sounds to me like it may just be a case of "working out the pecking order". How long have you had your newest ferret? Sometimes it takes a while for ferrets to get used to a new addition. Also, it may look horrifying to you, but that may just be them playing or at least wrestling to figure out who is at the top of the food chain, if you know what I mean. As long as no one is pooping out of fear, bleeding, or screaming, then you don't really have a reason to interfere. You should just keep an eye on it, and if you see any of those bad signs, then you should interfere, but if not, then just let them be and they will work it out. I know it is hard to watch, but it should be just fine if you don't see any of those signs.

I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Sincerely,
Emilee Andrews
