Question
HI,I suspect that my ferret has hairballs it being the spring shedding season, she gags and coughs very dry...So I bought her some ferret lax for hairballs...I cant figure out how to feed it too her.  She is a very picky fuzzie..She doesnt even like treats...she wont lick it off of my finger or a spoon and I tried putting it on her food and then she wont eat her food! How can I give it too her!?

Answer
Hello Desi,
The ferret lax for hairballs is usually a thick brown paste. The easiest way to give it to a finicky fuzzy is to lay her on her back and smear a thick "ribbon" on her lower stomach (where she can reach it to lick it off). Make sure you smear it onto her skin sort of like spreading peanut butter, and she will lick it off just due to the annoyance of having something sticky on her tummy. If she likes Ferretone, drip a few drops on the paste after smearing it on her stomach.
Incidently, this is also a good time for nail trimming. Once a ferret gets involved in licking something off of their tummy ie: Ferretone, they are usually oblivious to anything else. You can usually trim all four feet's nails before they fininsh licking it off. Two jobs at once!
Good luck, and please let me know if this helps.
