Question
i understand that he needs all the love and care he can get right now but i read that sometimes the surgery doesn't always cure the illness. anyways my mother and i don't really have the money to get him the surgery he needs specially if the surgery doesn't even work. anyways, thanks for the advice. i mean i don't want to him down either. i mean he is my big baby, other than my lil girl. anyways we bearly have the money to even put him down. we have just enough money to do other things and buy there food. i mean i don't want lose my lil boy. we had him almost since birth. got them handed to me from my best friend that couldn't handle them. anyways once agian, thanks for the advice. i'll talk to my mom about it and stuff. thanks alot :)

Thanks

Answer
Hi again Sheena:

Surgery WILL CURE HIM - really it will. A shelter would get the surgery for him if you turn them over to a shelter.

Please, please at least consider that?  It would be a really difficult, adult decision, but if you can put HIS welfare above what you can afford, I think you will agree that the best thing for your ferrets is to live with someone who can afford medical care for them.  It's just too sad to think that they would die and they don't have to.

You really do need to keep both of them together no matter what, because they would mourn each other and possibly even die if you separated them.  They have each other and would be fine as long as they are re-homed together.

It's a hard decision, I do understand that. Times are sometimes very rough and we have to find other ways to do things. Bartering (trading something of value other than money) may be an option.  If you love your ferret, hopefully you will put HIS welfare first. Unfortunately, having ferrets is pretty expensive.

I just hope and pray that you will make a decision that is best for THEM and do it very very SOON - he sounds SO uncomfortable and he can't go get help for himself! It would be a very UNselfish and adult decision of you to give them up, even tho it would make you very sad.

Maybe your vet would even let you make payments or give you a lower price if they know you can't afford it?  It's worth a try to ask!  When I had my ferret put down, it only cost about $20. I recommend taking your ferret to the vet, in person, and asking for other options that maybe you *can* afford.  Maybe you could even do a little work around the vet's office to pay for his surgery? That could be fun, educational and a great way to get the surgery your ferret needs. :-)  It's worth asking.  I know you love your ferrets; surely your ferret will see that and try to help. Please, give him the chance?  My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time hon. It sounds like many prayers are in order for you. <<<hugs>>>

Sincerely,

Jacquie Rodgers
