hello i was just woundering how many babies ferrets have when giving birth. i was also woundering if you knew how long the babies have to stay with there mothers after birth? i was just wanting to no cuz i am 14 and was thinking abt getting a male ferret, because i already have a female ferret.. please email me back a.s.a.p...thank you...

Thank you for your question. Breeding ferret is not something I would recommend. Most likely your female is already spayed if she came from a pet store, and that is a good thing. A female ferret that is not spayed can easily die if not bred.
And a male ferret that is NOT neutered (one you can use to breed with) is a lot of times NOT a good pet. They have a strong odor, and are aggressive. And they are NOT descented.
Breeding ferrets is often a heart breaking and difficult task. I would never suggest anyone enter into it unless you are an experienced breeder. Ferret litters very often have several kits die, and sometimes they lose the whole litter. Some female ferrets do not make good mothers, and hand rearing kits that are under two weeks old is very difficult.  It is not unusual for the mother to abandon/kill the kits, or worse become aggressive towards anyone trying to handle them.
I cannot tell you enough that it is not a good idea. A better idea would be to buy your little female ferret a buddy to play with, or even two!
