Question
My male ferret has been chewing on my female's ears, when they are in the cage what does that mean? Should I seperate them?

Answer
Hello Cate,
Can you give me more info on this?
The most common reason for excess chewing/ licking of ears is due to ear infection. I would need more info as to:
Is you male BITING, and drawing blood? or is it more of a "licking and chewing" type behavior? Does your female "cry out" or does she seem to enjoy the behavior?

Also, check you female's ear(s)and see if you notice an odor, or any drainage. Please let me know, and I can better answer your question.
