yeah she does have tatoos on her ears, and it was given to me by mom as a present who got it from someone who was not the original owner. what is insulinoma and what are that tatoos about? i thought it was just a wierd birthmark.

i got my ferret when she was about three years old and was told that she was spayed. now she is developing teats and her vulva is swelling is that normal?

Answer -
No that is not normal and is usually a sign that she has insulinoma.  Is she losing hair anywhere on her body?  They can live a fairly long life with insulinoma.  Sometimes their vulva will go back down.  Does she have tatoos on her ears?  Or on her feet?  Where did you get her?

The tatoos are good as she was a Marshall Farms ferret so she is definitely spayed and descented.  That's why I asked.  Just watch her.  Steroids can help when a ferret has insullinoma but you'd have to get it from a vet.  Steroids are inexpensive.  As I said, as long as she is running around and eating, etc. and her stools are normal she should do ok.  Cancer is so common in ferrets when they get older and insullinoma is a form of one of the cancers they get.

Type in insulinoma and put "ferrets" behind it in any search engine on your computer.  Actually it sounds more like your ferret may have Adrenal Cancer.  Look that one up.  Both can cause swelling in the vulva and both diseases are cancers and common in ferrets.  Hope this helps you.
