Question
I've had my female ferret for a little over a year now. I have two questions.
1. I clean my ferrets cage once a week. I know once a day is recommended. And bathe her once a month. My dad saw a reach an two water bugs in our house the past week or so and he says they're coming because of the smell of our ferret. I disagree because we've had her for more than a year Nd have never had a problem. We also have a water soaked hole in the wall in our bathroom that goes to our crawl space. I believe the bugs are coming from there. Could my ferret be the reason because my dad is demanding I get rid of her and I can't, I love her.
2. My ferret used to be a cuddle sweetheart and lately she's been fussy and bites often. It breaks my heart that my little girl is acting this way. A friend of mine suggested that change doesn't air well with ferret but all I've done is rearrange my living. Help?!

Answer
I'll do my best here.  Roaches are not a common issue with ferrets, neither are water bugs.  It is not the smell that would attract either anyway.  Roaches are attracted to food and dark/damp places.  Everything I can read about water bugs says they live in streams or fresh water so I don't know where they would be coming from unless there has been rain and flooding recently.
If a ferret suddenly changes behavior, I suggest a visit to the vet as there is likely something medical wrong.
